MY ART KIENZLE

MAKING-OF

FROM THE IDEA TO THE FINISHED OBJECT!

1. Brainstorming/concept
MyArt Kienzle – original coffee capsule upcycling art begins with brainstorming, sketches, scribbles and designs on the screen.

The first considerations concern material, texture, colour, possible combinations and feasibility. In the object-related design line of antique objects, the main consideration is which objects are suitable as a basis and to what extent these objects can be found in the desired condition.

Ideas manifest themselves through drawing and design, resulting in the layout for the use of appropriate capsules and materials.

2. Capsule collection of used capsules
Approximately 3,000 empty and cleaned capsules are kept in stock at all times. Nevertheless, additional capsule series must be purchased online on a regular basis, especially rare special series and discontinued series with special colours that are no longer available in stores.

3. Material procurement
Porcelain stoneware, tiles, ceramics, antique and old objects are purchased from specialist retailers, online, at antique markets, through recommendations and via contacts across Europe. Other materials such as leather, aluminium, stainless steel and finishing materials are also required. Installation and processing materials are also needed and are purchased from DIY stores and specialist retailers.

4 . Design
Working on the object first requires preparation:
cleaning, degreasing, sanding, sawing, painting, refining with other materials and finally sealing. It is a long process before the first capsule can be installed.
However, the capsules also need to be prepared:
After thorough cleaning, drying and smoothing out any rough dents, the capsules are filled with a special ceramic mixture (the material and mixture are a trade secret) and harden completely within 24 hours. Only then are the capsules ready for further processing.

The capsules are assembled according to the sketch and design using special adhesives.

5 . Finish
The perfection of the object is achieved by signing it with sealing wax, thus guaranteeing its uniqueness. Appropriate packaging, partly made of plywood, is mandatory and provides optimum protection for these unique items.
